On a Tag Making Spree!

I've been on a tag making spree lately!  And,of course, my favorite subject is Marie Antoinette. One of these tags was a gift for a fellow Marie Antoinette Mail Art group member who is going through some tough times.  Our group got together and sent her tags so she could create a little tag book out of them.   I just love it when us creative girls stick together and offer encouragement to each other!  The bottom tags feature my new favorite supply - tissue festooning.  I love to crinkle it up on the top of tags and add embellishments on top of it.  It also work very well with another of my favorites - seam binding.  I like to crinkle it and distress it by putting it in a cup of tea. It also gives me an excuse to make a cup of tea for myself and enjoy a few quiet moments.

And one more thing for today - yesterday I lost such a special person in my life, my dear friend and neighbor Joe Hall.  My dad died over 10 years ago and Joe was like a dad to me.  He was always there for me if I needed.  And many a time he was at my house chasing away a lizard that had wandered in, or helping man the barbeque at our neighborhood pool party.

Joe, I love you and will miss you so much.

My Key to Petit Trianon

I was perusing the swaps one day for my Marie Antoinette Mail Art group and there was a listing to create a key to Petit Trianon.  Petit Trianon is on the grounds of Versailles, and I was lucky enough to visit there this past October.  So of course I had to join!  I am crazy about anything having to do with Versailles.  It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited, and I especially loved the areas that Marie Antoinette had made her own, which included Petit Trianon and the incredible gardens surrounding it.

The assignment was to create a necklace that included an altered key.  My swap partner was Melanie, and this is the necklace that I made for her.  I used a silver key and added old jewelry parts tom embellish it.  I liked this earring that I used as it had pink and robins egg blue stones in it, which are typically Marie Antoinette colors.
I then used multiple layers of chain and added a layer of rinestone chain as well.  Then I completed it with the addition of a number of new and old silver charms and beads.  I haven't worked on jewelry in a long time and this was a great exercise to get me reaquainted. I really loved putting the piece together.
We were also required to decorate the box to hold the little necklace and below is a photo of my box with the necklace.
So I hope Melanie likes this "Key to Petit Trianon", and I hope it gains her entry in to this lovely little palace!  Here are the photos I took of Marie Antoinette's retreat:

Aren't the gardens amazing?  And they trim many of the trees in Paris to look like boxes!
This is where Marie Antoinette slept.  Don't you want to crawl in and take a nap?

Thanks so much for visiting and sharing my adventure in art and in traveling.  Happy Pink Saturday!

Easter Egg Marie Antoinette ATC

Just a quick little post to say Happy Easter to all!  Here are the ATCs that I made for a swap with my Marie Antoinette Mail Art group.  I hope you have all had a lovely Spring Break and are recuperated and ready to face work and or school again.  And a Happy Pink Saturday too!
